Learn how to create a DIY air freshener flower vase with essential oils and paper flowers. Super pretty, easy to make and you can also use it as a standalone decoration.
Here you have a step by step tutorial on how to make this cute DIY air freshener flower vase with essential oils. This is a nice project as you can use it both as an air freshener, or as a stand alone decoration. I decided on the paper flowers a they are easier to make. The air freshener part is even easier with only two supplies. You can use this one separate and create your own decoration.
How To Make A DIY Air Freshener

- Card stock of different colors
- Manual die cutting machine
- Flower die cuts Butterflies die cuts ( optional )
- Floral tape
- Floral wire
- Flat back flowers
- Bent nose pliers ( optional )
- Micro cutter ( optional )
- White glue Rounded tool
- Glue gun
- Glass jar
- White glue
- Plaster of Paris
- White acrylic paint
- Clear sealer
- White glitter ( optional )
- Paint brush Hemp rope ( optional )
- Scissors
- Sodium bicarbonate ( baking soda )
- Lavender essential oil ( or others )

2. DIY Air Freshener With Essential Oils
This is the most simple part using only sodium bicarbonate ( baking soda ), and essential oils. I’m using baking soda because it attracts unpleasant odors. All you have to do is to place the baking soda in a container, add a few drops of essential oils and your DIY air freshener is finished. To keep the pleasant odors, just add a few more drops of essential oils from time to time. Usually the baking soda will last a long time. If you have a humid environment, you may have to replace the baking soda from time to time.
3. Glass Jar Flower Vase
Pick a glass jar in the size and shape you want. In a plastic cup mix some plaster ( three – four spoons ) with white glue until you have a paste with a nice consistency. With a spatula spread the paste and cover the entire glass jar. Let it dry just a little, and with a sponge press a little all over the glass to create a pattern.
Let it dry completely, then paint it with white acrylic paint. When the paint dried, paint again with the clear sealer. If you wish to, before it dries you can sprinkle some white glitter. I decided to decorate it with a little hemp rope and a butterfly made using a butterfly die set.
4. Decorative Paper Flowers
With a manual die cutting machine and a flower die set, cut as many flowers as you want. To create the flower start with the green base, then you add three layers decreasing in size, of the desired color. Glue them together with white glue.
With the help of a needle, make two holes in the center of the flower similar to the ones on a button. Pass the floral wire trough in equal lengths, then on the back of the flower start twisting the wires together. Cover the wire with floral tape, and with a hot glue gun fix the leaves to the wire. Now you can decorate the top of the flower. Glue a flat back flower on top and your flower is finished. Make as many flowers as you need in assorted colors.
5. Finishing the DIY Air Freshener
Now that you have everything prepared, you can start putting them all together. Fill the glass jar with baking soda, then add a few drops of the essential oils. Place the flowers in the jar, and decorate the jar with the hemp rope if you haven’t done it yet. Your decorative DIY air freshener flower vase is finished.
